    C-1 windshield

I'm still struggeling with my '61 windshield. Question du jour: How do you determine how many of the rubber gasket/spacers to use under the end posts of the windshield? Thanks

I believe the accepted method to determine the number of shims is to install the windshield loose and then fit the hardtop and shim so everything lines up as needed. Tighten to verify everything stays where it should be.
Then fit your and adjust the soft top and door windows.
Since the hardtop has fixed dimensions you must fit it first.

You must consider several things, maximum adjustable travel of door pillar post, door post weatherstrip density, soft top adjustment (if no hardtop), even door gaps relate the travel of the pillar post and can cause issues. It is a rough battle to get it all to fit within spec and operational. I have installed around 20 56-62 windshields and have never had to use more than 2 per side. I normally use a web type glue and stick one to the windshield post; and cut slices from the bolt holes to the inboard edge in another and slide it over the 5/16 studs. Attempt to fit it all and if your gap is too large loosen the fasteners and pull the second one out with some needle nose pliars. Best of luck and have 2 buddies help (the more help the less likely you are to scar the paint with a loose T bolt).
