    Transmission leak c-1 powerglide

I am getting a small amount (drip) from where the front
bolts to the flywheel. Does this mean the front seal is bad?

    any help is appreciated.

Bruce, Most small leaks on c1/c2 P/G cars are common after the cars sit awhile, I have seen leaks disappear once the car starts and gets driven.

Generally leaks from the front of transmisson come from the front seal or the pump cover. either way its not a pleasant job. so my advice is to drive the car and run it through a few warm-up cycles once in a while to soften up the seals alittle.

      Bruce,
As mentioned small leaks are common in early PG transmissions.
Wait until you park it over the winter and it pukes out a pint or so.
The key I have found is to drive the car.

And for reasons, I cannot give a technical reason, it also helps when shutting the car down, to have the transmission in neutral, not park. I bought my 67 powerglide in April 2010, and after owning it for about 1 month, started noticing transmission fluid on the garage floor underneath the car. Checked the transmission fluid level and it was still at full, so didn't add any.

Did some research and found suggestions to shut down in neutral--been doing that ever since and no more transmission fluid on the floor. I also drive mine at least once a month during Winter (living in Dallas, other than waiting for the sand thrown on the roads during an ice storm to wash off the streets, "toy" cars don't have to sit through winter), and weekly (or more often) during Spring, Fall and Summer.

My '61 PG seeps fluid as it sits too - not alot, but enough to irritate me. I will try the shutting it down in neutral as we drive it this coming season.
