    Replacing carpet

I'm replacing the carpet on my 65 coupe and am
looking for some tips on cleaning up the old glue and any other
Problems that may come up (I am using a resperator)
the carpet has been replace before and in some areas there
is alot of old adhesive. I Know I need to use lacquer thinner
but I am concerned about using to much on the fiberglass to
get it clean or just to much scrubbing. Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Karl

    Hi Karl,

From your last thread I understood that your sound deadner matting was intact? If it is, I'd keep the solvents away from it. If your sound deadner mats are trashed, you'll probably want to replace them. Cleaning the floor pans is easy enough. Decide what you want to clean the fiberglass with, then let it completely dry prior to mat and carpet installation.

Karl, nobody will see traces of old carpet glue, so I wouldn't bother trying to remove it. Only if it lumps up in spots. As long as the surface is clean for the new glue to adhere to, you're in business.
