A-6 compressor detail question

getting ready to repaint compressor. did the drain plug on the side get painted black ? never noticed before

Craig - I checked the plugs on my early 67 Corvette A6 compressor (CODE NO 072762) and my late 66 Chevelle A6 compressor (CODE NO 050561) and they are painted black. As far as I know, the compressors are the originals to the two cars and believe the paint on the compressors is also original, as neither compressor shows signs of having been repainted. Pete

Craig -- I vote painted. I have 3 compressors, 1965-'70s; none restored or rebuilt. All fill/dipstick plugs show black paint which has chipped over the years with handling.

Third vote for painted. My original 1967 A-6 has this part painted black.
