Outer rear bumper support again

The 72 AIM shows 3996869-70 and does not show a difference for right and left. On ebay there are two NOS right 331868 and left 331867. Zip sells the same repo for both sides. Volunteer Vette sells a rt and left.
Are these supercdeeded part numbers or is there something different? Maybe 72 and 73. I need a left for my 72 and don't know what I need.

Ken, With two adjacent numbers like that (3996869-70) one is right and the other left. There is a "convention" for which (odd or even) is which, but I can never remember which is which -- and there are a few exceptions as well. Someone else will post that info.

Keith the typical number to side general rule is odd LEFT even Right as stated by Terry there are exceptions to the rule.

I should have known that. So are the two pair of numbers superceeded one by the other and are the same.

Keith the part numbers in the AIM in a lot of cases do not match the over the counter part numbers one was production and the other is service. But the same general rule applies for left and right.
