Oil Pan and Windage tray L76 L84

Does anyone have a photo of a correct L76/84 oil pan, inside, and the windage tray? I have the pan but the tray is gone.
    Thanks

Joe L and Joe C, Do either of you guys have a photo of a correct 65 SHP oil pan. The others were C1s, I think.
I'll post a photo of mine tomorrow.
          Thanks,
          John

This is as close as I can get for you. This is a service replacement I bought MANY years ago---------------uses the thin front seal. It's comparred to a stock type pass car pan.

Whoops, I switched sides with the pans when I turned them around. The SHP pan is now on the left below. Sorry for the switch.

And this is the pickup screen (with long tube) for the oil pump, which goes with the SHP long sump pan.

The pan shown on the right in Tom's first picture is the correct configuration, "6 quart" pan for 1965 with L-76 and L-84.

The oil pick-up screen on the left in Tom's picture (with the long tube) is the correct pick-up, GM #3830080. However, the same pick-up is also used with 1963-74 standard, "5 quart" small block Corvette pans.

Do you think there would be any problem adding the 3769768 windage tray to my 59/270? I saw in one of your previos posts that the 60 61 used this part number.I therefor thought I may add one to my 59 while it's apart. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

                    TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EASY!
Depending on engine and oil pan, I put either the flat or the curved tray in EVERY engine I build, including the granny grocery getter engines. I even use a windage tray with pans that are not supposed to be compatable with a tray. There are still a few of us on the planet that you're just wasting your breath on when you say "it can't be done"!
For example, I have a SB400 in my 70 Chevelle which can ONLY USE the stock pan which is real flat ahead of the sump so that it clears the front cross member (barely), and that engine has the curved tray which is NOT SUPPOSED to fit-----------------but it does-------------with VERY minor modification to the baffle in the pan (two holes drilled at the front of the baffle for the front two studs).

Thanks for the quick replay and I'm still in love with that 56.I always looked at windage trays and scapers as a way to get free horsepower with no moving parts. You can't beat that with a stick.Something else I've always included in a rebuild is a lifter valley baffle. They keep the hot oil off the bottem of the intake manifold.Small blocks use Pt #25050 by Moroso.About 20 bucks.MADE in AMERICA.By the way do you know the GM Pt.# for the main bearing studs that go with this tray?I used to have it ,but have misplace it.
                      Thanks

                        Stephen,
There are TWO studs, short and long.
The short ones (3872718) were used with the small journal engines (265-283-327) and the long ones (3960312) were used with the large journal engines (302-305-307-327-350-400).
I'm sure both the short and long studs are discontinued now, but the long studs will work in a small journal block.
And, if the GM studs cannot be located, ARP does make studs which are for the purpose of attaching a windage tray. I have a set of those studs in my 420SB boat engine. They work fine.

Since I retired from GM I still have some special Phone numbers in Detroit,
so I called Service Parts Operation to inquire about #3769768 tray,#3872718 short stud, and #3960312 long stud. The tray has been discontinued, the shot stud is available, and they claim the #3960312 is an invalid number. Check the 3960312 to be valid and get back . I will be happy to call again. By the way the short studs come in multi packs of 2. Some dealers will not break multi packs on special orders,so get ready to perhaps have to buy 2,4,6,or 8.

Just went to my GM Performance Parts catalog, and looked under Windage Tray.Long tray #3927136 has this Note Requires five mounting studs P/N 14087508 for 1968-and later blocks. Use mounting studs P/N 3872718 with pre-1968 blocks. On 400-cube-inch small-block the baffle requires modifying by elongating mounting holes. Check tray clearance with long stroke crankshafts and/or non-stock connecting rods.
They also list P/N12554816 (short flat tray) with these notes.
.Flat oil pan baffle used with 1986-1996 Corvette panP/N 10055765

                              Stephen,
OK, apparently the long 3960312 stud has been superceded by 14087508, which is good. I just plugged that number into gmpartsdirect and it comes up as being available. If I were you, I'd order 6 before they are discontinued!!!And the short stud, 3872718 shows to also be still available, which really surprises me!If you look REAL close, you can tell that the curved windage tray above has had the mounting holes elongated to fit the SB420, which is in my boat. I discovered this on my own over 30yrs ago-------------no, I guess it's been over 35yrs ago, when I built my first SB400. Although, when I built my first SB400 in the early 70s, I used the flat windage tray. In addition to elongating the mounting holes, I had to gently massage (dimpled with a ball peen hammer) the flat tray for clearance of the 400 counter weights. I still have that tray!
