dickie: my original 62 spare tire cover is 3/8" thick, 5 plys and NO football shaped plugs. its still has its dull, thinly applied black stain. a piece is removed, about 6" by 1/2 to 3/4" wide, 180 degrees from the finger hole . the removed piece matches the outline of the floor pan. need anything else?mike

Mine looks pretty much the same as John's. In the AIM on the page marked R.P.O. 675, sheet 1.00 in the bottom right of the page, it shows placement of the two labels.

Thirty years ago, a judge told me that the labels on my '62 trunk board were in the wrong place "according to the AIM" and was preparing to discuss the "amount" of the deduct. I thought it was worth the $$$ to grab a corner of both labels and peel them back, just to show that they were placed "EXACTLY" over the original labels.
The guy on the line has to get the labels applied; as long as he doesn't put them on top of each other, it passes.
