Another stamped 65 FI plenum found

In my stash of FI parts I found a stamped 65 FI plenum that I haven't seen in many years.

5104616. Tag reads 7017380 #2550. Yesterdays junk is todays gold. You have heard that one before. Well now it's true.
Condition of plenum: Passenger side is 100% perfect.
Drivers side has 4 welds. Two on each leg. But it's not so bad that a pile of cash and a good craftsmen couldn't make it show worthy.

Jim Gessner send me a long list of history of ownership on the car this FI plenum came from.
I didn't play detective and make any calls yet. If any of you know of this car or possibly own it you know how to reach me. Thanks, John D

Story: This plenum has the serial number or parts of it stamped twice. The 1st attempt by the worker was to stamp it on the usual boss below the distributor vacuum advance fitting. All he managed was
4616. And the 4 is barely visible.
So then his 2nd attempt was behind this boss near the RR corner where it is hit like it belongs in a museum of art. Nice 5104616 that would make a judge suspicious except this plenum didn't come from any show car.

Always fun to hook up owners of cars with their original FI units or parts. Hope a current owner comes forward.

      Jim,
I have a 65 FI unit that I'm pretty sure has the VIN stamped on the plenum. I will have to check it out and get the number and send it to you for your registry.

If a guy gets serious about locating this car, it is a convertible. It was titled in Ohio in 2000. It appears it went to NC shortly after. Mileage showed 63000 miles back then. It was in the Tuscarawus County area, which would be the Dover or new Philadelphia Ohio area.

James and John, I will send you a contact name who may remember this car.

Tom, Although this plenum is the real deal it is not usuable as is. Would require extensive cosmetic surgery and then a lot of shaping of the welded areas.
Very few can pull this job off. But the owner may still want this plenum to put on the shelf so it can go with the car. Thanks, John

Post it on the C2 Registry. Just create the car and mention availability of the plenium and contact details...

HI Rob, I waste too much time on the forums right now as you well know. Never been on the C2 registry and afraid to do so as that means more time spent as this stuff is addicting. I am not living up to my NY's resolution. My note says. "Don't waste so much time on forums". Well I already broke that suggestion.

I did my job by posting the fact that I have this part. Did it on several forums and with Jim.
Sorry but I do not have time to chase a car down to match the plenum with the car. Would be nice though but I am always behind me my work and there is no catching up.
Maybe I will put an ad in "The Driveline" as a courtesy. Thanks very much, JD

Speaking of stamped plenums -- did this last '65 [??] unit ever find its way to the (now) owner of the car ?

How much do you have to pay for a plenum like this?

                          Hi Matt,

FYI (and anyone else at Barrett Jackson this week), my cousin's daughter will be performing at BJ this week. She is not a 'Vette Gal', she is a dancer and will be dancing during intermission. Her name is Laura Beth Boas, her partner's name is Jordon, and they will be dancing to "I had the time of my life", from the movie "Dirty Dancing"; performed in the movie by Jennifer Gray and Patrick Swayze.
I'm sure there will be several intermissions, not which one or ones she will be in. We will be watching on Speed, but it probably will not be aired, given the disgusting amount of commercial time there is on TV these days.
Just thought I would throw this out. -Dan-

Hey Matt !! On that 65, Look on the passenger side rear of the plenum on the vertical face.

                            Have fun out there.

                              Wayne,
I remember that unit. I think the seller was a fellow from Kansas, pic taken at Bloomington in the late '70's early '80's. It's not from the last '65 FI car. The serial number of the last FI car is unknown, but several later ones have shown up.
Bill Mock had a blue/black convertible for sale many years ago, original fuel car, don't remember the VIN, but later than this. Maybe he will chime in. If this owner still has this unit I will gladly pay the $1700!! :-) Bill
