    Luggage rack clarification

Given I'm in the midst of putting everything back together I noticed some discrepancies that maybe need some clarity.

The 1977 model has a factory luggage rack option documented in the forum as V54. It's also documented this way on page 37 of the 2nd edition judging manual. The Assembly Manual has it documented as V55 on page p474 and p475.

When I looked up references for the 2 options
V54 shows as a painted rack
    V55 as a chrome rack.

What needs correcting?? And just curious, was the option always supplied with the t-top holder??

    Cheers

I never heard about the option of a painted rack - neither did I ever see one. V54 came in chrome.

And when ordered as RPO with the car, V54 came from the factory with the t-top-brackets included. Whereas when the rack was back-ordered by the dealer to retrofit a car with them, the pack contained the rack only.

    Hope that helps.

I agree. Chrome is what I have seen. What is your reference? I'm wondering whether the paint option could have been for other GM models.

        Hi Michael.

We're all in agreement that chrome is correct. But the forum (and window stickers) are using V54 as the option while the assembly manual and all RPO references for the chrome rack refer to it as V55.

Every web reference for GM or chevy specific RPO options have been consistent with the assembly manual as V55.

        Cheers.
