Please advise on the correct way to restore an original gas tank on a 65 corvette? Is there a solution you use to rinse the inside out? The tank is out of the car and appears to be in good shape on the outside. Also can you bench test a windshield wiper motor? If so, how do you hook it up.

Re: 65 gas tank and windshield wiper questions
John,
Considering all the problems poeple have with gas tanks, dirt, rust etc. find out how much Quanta wants for a new repro tank.
I think they are spot on correct and one big worry not to have.- Top

John,
The Quanta tank has the logo and other features the 63-67 tanks have. See if you can check them out online if you don't have a catalog.- Top

I ordered a quanta tank for my 68 and it was not the same. The logo was the same but not the same size! Just FYI\

Re: 65 gas tank and windshield wiper questions
It's been quite a while since I've looked, but my recollection is the first few reproductions I saw had the 'A' logo (Anderson) clocked 90-degrees away from the orientation of original tanks...
Sometimes, when one supplies a reproduction, they like to make one or more INTENTIONAL differences to be able to distinguish their product from the factory original. As time goes by and the reproduction ages, such can help distinguish the two...- Top

Re: 65 gas tank and windshield wiper questions
Unless you have leaks or rust on the inside, clean the outside and put it back in. Leaks are obvious, as is rust. The original tanks for my 60 and 65 are in the same condition as when they were installed by the factory. Unless they were stored with water in them, these tanks will last forever. I wouldn't put any sort of coating on the inside. There have been reports of the new formula gas causing problems with it. There have been many that have had fitting problems with Quanta tanks.- Top

Re: 65 gas tank and windshield wiper questions
I just finished the rebuild on my wiper motor for my 67 when I read your reply to his post so I went to the book as you recomended to him before I put the last few rivets in.
Not easy and very hard to follow so I was glad that I did my own funtional tests as I did the rebuild.
I didn't look in the later books as I think the tests are the same for all the C 2s but there are some minor differences I noticed in the pics between the 63 and the 67.
Your reply to his post was in sync with what I was doing.
