I am having my 61 painted Roman Red and was wondering what brand and type of paint is recomended? Likewise for the primer. Also the old rims that I have for the car are black. Should they be black or red?

Re: Recomended paint manufacturer for 61
Lemme see, there close to 7,000 member's registered on this forum. That is about how many opinions you will get. The only comment that I will make is not shortcut your primer and primer surfacer. The best top coat materials in the world will not hold up if you shortcut. Personally I use an epoxy primer and a quality primer-surfacer such as PPG's K-36. We also reduce the primer 100% and use it as a sealer immediately prior to color coat. No matter what you use, stay with one brand. That way if you have a problem, you might get a little help from the manufacturer.Last edited by Dick W.; January 5, 2011, 10:08 PM.Dick Whittington- Top

According to the JM:
"All wheels initially were dip painted with black prior to the following spray applications:
1961 standard and wide-based (RPO 276) wheels are painted body color (enamel) on the face........"
