Does anyone know of a way to get the gasket off of the cap to rehab the cap and then put it back on without destroying the gasket? Can it be soaked without ruining it? I want to get the rust off of the ap.

Mike, I was just thinking of soaking it in EVAPORUST and re-using/replacing the gasket and leaving the cap in original used state for now. Would soaking ruin the gasket? Maybe I can just fip the cap over and partially submerge.- Top

After a night/day in EvapoRust the cap turned out pretty good. Must be the light hitting the cap. Rust is gone!Attached Files- Top

Why not buy a replacement and use it? I bought one to use on a daily basis and keep the original tucked away lest someone decide it would be just what their BowTie needs. Your rehab job looks pretty good though.- Top
