Spring Bolt Finsih on 71 ???

I am confused about what is correct for the finish on the Bolt, Steel Washers and Nuts that go on the ends of the spring to the trailing arms. The JG says they should all be natural steel finish but many experts on here say that the bolt should be black phosphate, the washers natural and I think the nut natural. Mine appear to have been black bolts, natural washers and black nuts. Is the JG incorrect in what it says, I have the latest version.

Sheldon the most common finish I see is natural but have seen the blacken finish. The blacken finish is mostly seen on restored cars so that could be because of service replacement parts. My preference if doing a resto would be natural. I would never deduct for the blacken finish on the bolt it would be just a note on the judging sheet.

My experiance from original cars is black phosphate bolts and natural finish on the flat washers. When disassembeling an untouched car you can still find sopts of black that were protected by the bushing or nut. These bolts were SBC and P which were never a service replacement headmarking. This range of cars is 63-69 so I don't know if specs changed for 70-up. Most service replacement bolt headmarkings were Rockford or C. (C was also used in production from 63-mid 70's, Rockford was too but not untill the mid-late 70's)

mine were rust colored but i think they were originally natural. i replaced them with natural.
