    68 Wiper Core Assy

Would anyone know if a wiper core with a Delco # 4918077 for 68 be correct if the parts book calls for #4918712? It has the correct stamped motor # 5044683 on bottom.

    Hi Dale
I have NOS on the left later edition and on the NOS on the Right early.
On the back of the mounting area embossed is 4939300 That is for 68 69 era. I have a 69 wiper motor and it has that part number.

On the foil is 4918712 one date is 310 9 2A and the other 29 3 3b I total forgot how to decipher the dates can someone chime in.
On the bottom is TYPE C 12 volt.

You see the screw driver resting on that wire.(NOS Old) That wire is made of cloth bound and dipped black. Originals installed cars have these. Over time the black became brown.
The wire on the NOS later edition was plain black plastic wire. Just for your info. Also note the square plug in plug...68 only.

Then in a previous discussion before someone said there was no foil on the 68 wiper motors.

Anyways hope this helps and if anyone can decipher the date I can them past a sticky note and don't have to ask again.
    Thanks, Grant

        Grant:

I believe 310 9 = 310th day of 1969 (or 1979, but I would bet on 1969 in your case). I am not sure what the 2A means, but might guess plant or assembly line or shift.

        Thus 29 3 = 29th day of 1973.

I have no documentation to support these dates, but it has worked for relatively original cars through the years.

          Terry
That may be why some originals for 68 had no foil and the AIM ass’y # 5044683 was stamped on the bottom of the motor???? Then the service replacement motor, 4918712, came with the dated foil sticker in the box or already placed on the motor.

            Dale, That certainly makes sense.
