Chapter 50 - The Mission At San Juan Capistrano
...We diagonally parked the Vette just outside the mission wall, no more than a half a block from the entrance. And I don’t care how often you come, when you pass through that doorway, you enter a different world where time fades away…as the thick adobe enclosure and the quiet solitude within puts you in a place so different than where you were moments before. First you see the ancient arches glistening with Bougainvillea, its red and purple flowers in continuous bloom, its vines reaching the top of walls and cascading over. Then you notice the pathways, geometrically aligned around the courtyard, shaded by the white blooms of the evergreen pepper trees. And you smell that sweet mixture of exotic flowers and see the ancient carved fountain in the center dripping slowly into a green mossy pond filled with lilies. And even though you never forgot it, your experience begins anew as if it were your first time.
Happy New Year!
