    Found: 1966 Original Sales Order

A friend found an original sales order for a 1966 Corvette he purchased just after returning from Viet Nam. He thought the current owner might like to have it. However, if the current owner is interested in selling the car he expressed a desire to purchase it.

    1966 Corvette convertible 327, 350 HP, 4-spd close ratio, posi-track. Serial Number = 194676S121532 (Stock No. 4542) (ext Color T Blue, int Color D.Blue) Total Cost = $4825.83 (incl TT&L)

    Thanks,
    Scott Sims

Scott, I did a little internet research on the VIN and came up with zero hits.
Sadly, it's possible this is one Corvette that has been lost.

However, my barn-find '67 was off the radar screens for almost 30 years.... Ridge

I visited the C-2 Registry and didn't find it there so I posted the information on the Corvette Forum C-2 section in hopes that a non-NCRS member who owns it might come forward.

I had a friend in college who owned a '65 Corvette convertible back in the late '60s that was "borrowed" by someone late one night and wrecked it. When he awoke the next morning he saw his heavily damaged Corvette sitting there in front of his apartment but no one owned up to driving it. Back in those days very few college students locked their apartment doors due to so much partying so he thinks that someone lifted his keys while he was asleep. Knowing him he might have wrecked it himself during one of his drinking binges and didn't recall it. I think it went to an auto salvager.

I was told by a used Corvette dealer that the mortality rate of Corvettes in the C-1 to C-3 days was as high as 50%.

a lot of corvettes were "liberated" just for their engines and 4 speeds for race cars.
