    12 bolt build

I don't know if I ever posted a picture of this build I do, it's been around for 40 years now, but maybe some will find it interesting to see a 12 bolt stuffed into a vette 10 bolt carrier. Not required for trailer queens but if you like to put your foot down with 500+ hp then it holds up pretty well!
About 4 times stronger then any vette 10 bolt.
I did NOT post this as an advertisement just a tech picture. If it breaks the rules feel free to remove it.

    Gary,

great picture. I would guess the billet cap on the ring gear side is for added strength to stop the ring gear from walking away from the pinion under hard accelleration. Hey how bout putting a COPO posi unit in the carrier!!!

Looking at the picture a second time I start to see the extent you go to. Nice touch on the carrier housing being sanded smooth and the edges deburred!!! No stress crack faliures!! Also the custom stubby axles with flanges. I noticed the clutch pack ear sticking out. Do you need to open the face of the carrier to allow larger spider gears inside? Also is thie any special machining don to the housing. What is used for the axle retainrers, original C clips??

        Hey Rich,
I have close to 50 hours into this one.EVERY part is hand/machine fit. I wouldn't attempt one unless I had access to a Bridgeport, surface grinder, and lathe.Yes the posi case is polished and tuned, inside and out. The axles are Tom's 30 spline which I have treated and I finish grind, they use C clips I fit to set up the endplay I want in the axles. The clutch retainer is in place.
