    Auto Tranny Bracket Finish

I have just finished the tranny (turbo 400) for my 71 BB car. There are two brackets that bolt to the underside of the pan for the shifter cable and the steering lockout. Were these brackets natural finish or something else. Also what was the finsih of the bolts holding the pan and these brackets?
    Thanks
    Sheldon

What finish were on the bolts that hold the pan and brackets? The two bolts that hold the lockout bracket I beleive were a longer bolt with a separate lock washer and I think the rest were shorter with the larger flat washer built inot the head. Not sure what the headmarkings should be, anyone know?
        Thanks

Sheldon, could you tell me what the bolts look like? Headmark, length etc. would be great. Thanks

            Mike,
9 of the 13 bolts were a indented head with large shoulder with flat washer built in with the headmark L, they were 5/8 inch long and 5/16NC and black oxide. The two bolts that hold the steering lockout breacket should be 1 inch long x 5/16 NC with a lock washer and I am assuming black oxide also. not sure what headmark they should be. The two bolts that hold the shifter cable are reffered to in the parts cat as a screw assembly, they should be about 3/4 inch long 5/16 NC. I don't know if they have a headmark or not or what finish. Maybe someone else can help us out with that part.
            Thanks
            Sheldon

I restored a 69 L-36 w/M-40 several years ago. The interlock bracket that bolted to the trans had a grey phosphate plating. The 2 bolts that secured the bracket were 5/16-18 x 1" grade 5 black phosphate. There headmarking was RSC.
