    C1 Starter Needed

I need a starter for my 1960 project car. My car was assembled in November 1959. The link below is to a correct 1107664 starter now on Ebay that is April 59 date. No bids so far, so it looks like I could get it at a reasonably good price.

    Two questions:
I the date OK, i.e. 7 months before car assembly?
It says it has a "new high temp solenoid". The TIM & JG says the solenoid id is 1119919. So I assume at least the solenoid is not configuration correct. Will this hurt in judging? Do the judges only look at the starter id of 1107664, or do they also look for correct solenoid?

    Thanks,
    Don

Yeah, I know John, I bought a generator from him at Carlisle. However, I just saw the price on the one on Ebay as a bargin if it would work for my car.

      Thanks,

I've purchased several items from that E-Bay seller. Great stuff and the price is right. Those starters are on E-Bay all the time for around $50. I certainly wouldn't pay more for one.

          Jim,

Do you know about the solenoid and if it takes a judging hit?

          Thanks,

Yes, savvy judges will look at the starter solenoid and judge it as to originality & condition along with the starter. Why would you think they'd 'ignore' the solenoid???

In this case, they'll expect to see the original PN (1119919) stamped in the case, the correct/original Bakelite rear cover with script Delco Remy emboss and, most likely, the outside case painted black to match the starter body since those are traits of typical factory production...
