John, The new LaCrosse I just got had 16 miles on it when I picked it up. I asked the salesman why it had so many miles on it as when I saw the car it was right off the truck and not yet been serviced.
The salesman said they often see that as some of the cars go thru a quality check. Not his exact words.

my new 05 corvette had 29 miles on it when it rolled off of the truck. it even had water splash marks under the fenders. i was there when it was taken off the truck so i know the dealer did not put on the miles. it took almost 3 weeks from day of production till it arrived at the dealer and i was p----d because mine was the first one ordered but one ordered after me came in first and i wanted the first C-6 in town.

after four classes of wine on Christmas Night- My thought is maybe you are referring to the 1957 SS rather than the 56 SR's check your video and let me know.

that's it i was thinking of the video of the SS with the inboard brakes.
