After reading a lot of information about coils and ballast resistors from multiple sources, including referencing the Restorer CD, I've come to what I hope is the correct conclusion for a late '63 L84. I'd appreciate verification from some folks in the know who are judges or had their cars judged recently. I believe the correct combination is a 1115091 coil with a D1111 ballast for a June build car. Could someone please verify this?
Also, since originals of these parts seems to be rarer than hen's teeth, I'm looking at the Corvette Central 091 unit and a repro ballast. Below are pictures. Kenneth Kayer's article shows the 091 stamp at the top to be correct. What do you think of these repros from a judging perspective (pics below)?
