Re: 63 327/340 intake question
The spray gun that was used wasn't a small touch up gun so a lot of overspray wound up on the inner sides of the valve covers and on the intake manifold, even though the target was the manifold/head gasket surface on the cyl head.- Top

Yes, I may have missed that. I thought he was referring to the dull aluminum coating.- Top

Re: 63 327/340 intake question
Edward, I had a 340 HP 63 that had a fake FI unit on it. But I had the original intake that went with the car when I sold it. The car only had 50K on it. I was surprised just how much silver paint was on the original intake. You see the engine did not appear to have been taken apart before I got it in 1978 or so. Car serial number was around 19,400 range.
Barry Holmes ended up with the red car (supposed to be saddle) and was quite pleased with it as I recall.
Now to wait for his response.- Top

Re: 63 327/340 intake question
My original L-76 manifold never had any silver paint on it with the exception of the thermostat housing. I re-painted that in about 1976 to spruce it up. I also used an aluminum cleaner spray to remove the gas stains at that time. Although my car was in storage while I was in SEA, I don't believe anyone stripped the manifold or had the engine apart w/o my knowledge.
