66 Timing cover Part II

In the other post, I didn't ask about, or post a good picture of the fronts of the two different covers because I was mainly concerned with the tabs.

Now that I know which tab is correct, I now need to know what years had the Half indentations and which years had the full indentations . I only just noticed them, and now wonder if they indicate a specific year.

I highlighted them to make it easier to see the differences.

Hello Jim;
Believe the left pictured cover is for C2 up to '67, maybe '68 and the right one is '69 up with additional designs coming in later.
This information is purely from memory, so it may be faulty.

I have additional info. Upon closer inspection, after I removed the paint. The one on the left (with the full indents) is dated or marked 1 70.

The one on the right with the smaller indent areas is dated or marked
4 5.

If these #s are indeed dates, than the left one is for a 70 and up as others have stated on my previous post from looking at the timing tab. The right one clearly has the correct tab for a 66 L79 , but I am still mystified by the strange shape. I even cruised thru EBay and looked at 100s of covers but only saw one other one like it , and it was just marked 8" Chevy Cover.

Still wondering where and when this unique shape was made.
