My car is a #1 condition 1965 Rally Red/red vinyl, L76 (365hp), factory C60 (A/C), P/W, P/B M21 Coupe. Very rare, according to Terry Michaelis. It is being prepared for a National Top Flight attempt in 2012. (It scored 92.5% at the '09 Texas Regional)
I read all the time that a provenance is vital to a high-end vintage Sting Ray's value. So, I hired a researcher to find the ownership history on my car. He could only go back to an owner who bought the car in 1978. All the owners after him would confirm ownership, but not this one guy. At the researcher's urging, I wrote to the previous owner in question, who nows lives in Colorado. I did not receive a reply.
While the ownership records finally prove that my car is, indeed, a low mileage car, I am stymied at 1978. For those of you who have gone through this with your car, what are your recommendations for me?
