Re: Question about buying carb
Lawrence,
I'm on the east coast of FL, but no I've never heard of them. I would imagine whoever you buy from should give some kind of warranty if it's a rebuilt unit. Have you tried other resources?
What's the carb type, maker, and number that you need. Maybe there's one hiding in the driveline. If you bring it up and save it in pdf form you can use the search function.

Laurance,
Are you expecting a correctly numbered, dated and finished carb from these folks? I don't believe that's what they're offering.- Top

Re: Question about buying carb
My car is a driver and I do not show or get judged so carb does not have to be correct number. I will be keeping the orginal one so if I ever sell I will have correct number carb. The web page shows life time warranty and was wondering if anyone ever used them and the quality of work. thanks for the replys- Top

Re: Question about buying carb
Live without the car for a week to 10 days. Take your original and send it to All American Carburetor in Orange Park near Jax. One day UPS or FED EX ground each way. They usually ship within a week of receipt. Lifetime warranty. They do nice work and live test it before sending back..

Re: Question about buying carb
Here's an alternative to living without your car for 10 days if you don't want to. I've done this twice. The first time was with my '68 base engine convertible. I bought a rebuilt carburetor from guess who? Our old friends at J.C. Whitney. It cost $169.95 and I used it on the car until I got the original rebuilt. It worked great, and now I have a spare quadrajet on the shelf. The second time, I was having a problem with my 19,000 actual mile El Camino. I did the same thing; got a rebuilt from J.C. Whitney for $129.95. After I got the rebuilt original back, I sold the Whitney carburetor on our favorite auction site for $80.00, since I don't plan on keeping the truck long term.
Right now, I am having some problems with the Holley on my '67 350 HP coupe, so I checked with J.C. Whitney again. Prices have gone up some, but a replacement 3810 is only $189.95. I'm going to order one as soon as I get back to Minnesota this spring. Also, you can save the epress shipping charges.
The only down side is that it takes 30 to 45 days to get the carb. I don't know about you, but a good spare 4160 for around $200 (with shipping) sounds like a good idea to me.Last edited by Dennis O.; December 15, 2010, 12:28 AM.- Top
