    1960 seat bottom reupholstery

My seats did not have the burlap with interwoven wires between the foam and the spring unit. I purchased a set to install. Was the original burlap with wire piece sewed to the seat retainer ring? My ring had several pieces of very heavy thread that were tied around the retainer ring, but nothing attached to the threads. Made me thing that the burlap might have been sewed in place. What say the experts?

The burlap piece with the inter woven wire, (approx. 12"X12") was hog-ringed to the spring unit. It's a good idea to use some spray glue as well if you want to retain the "concave pocket" that the original seat bottoms display.
