    Help on carburetor identity question

'63 SWC, 340hp, 4sp, with Carter AFB carb, built apprx Jan 21, '63. Carb has #3461S on front, which is correct. But also has another code stamped on lower front RH as "CD3".

Can anyone tell me what this code stands for? Is it some kind of date code? I couldnt find it in the books, but maybe just missed it. Appreciate any help as I'm trying to verify all numbers on this car.

    Thnx in advance

    Hello Mel,

I have the exact same carburetor. CD3 breaks down as follows: C=Revision C, D=April, 3=1963.

    Hope this helps!

Jon. Thanks a lot. Well... not what I wanted to hear for my Jan 21 car, but got same response on another board. Must have changed carbs along the way, or at least that part of the carb.

        Mel,

Don't be so fast to give that carburetor up, just having a 3461 is your ticket to finding a correctly dated part, be patient.

Thanks guys. Makes sense to look for correct date part. Anyone know what was 'revised' on this version of the AFB carb?
