    Correct C1 Valve Stems

In the process of restoring a '58 Fuelie, we have come to the point of needing the correct Valve Stems for the wheels. The JG calls for the proper ones to be 1-1/2" in Length. All we have found available is either 1-1/4" or 2".
Can anyone lead me to a source for the proper length valve stems and corresponding Valve caps?

    Thanks

I went to my local tire dealer and told him what I wanted and he was able to order them.

A wise man told me.... a "Real Deal" C1 valve stem base should be the same size as a "Hershey Kiss". Not like the current ones avalible... FWIW

        Frank,

I would really love to have the contact info for your local dealer. I have had no luck finding anyone who can order the 1-1/2" x .625" Valve Stems.

        Any help is greatly appreciated.

        Thanks

Harry, why not call around to some old , established tire shops. You never know what they might have laying around. Bill

            Thanks Bill,

I have worn out shoe leather doing just that, to no avail. I thought the same thing but have come up empty.

            Thanks

Harry, I have a box of about 150 Dill stems of various sizes, some measure 1 1/2 inch from where they mount to wheel to tip of Dill cap. Used them on my 64 Corvette. Came from a shop that closed. Going out of town Tues. so send me some good dimensions on what you need etc. Maybe I can find the right ones for you.

                  Dan,

Thanks so much for the reply. The ones I need will be .625" in diameter at the base where they go into the wheel. An earlier post described them looking more like a Hersheys Kiss, fat bottom, thinner stem. They need to be 2" (or close) in length from the ring to the tip of the cap. In other words, what sticks out from the wheel is about 2" in length. I am working on several cars and will buy at least a dozen of these if you have them.

                  Thanks,

                  Harry

Should all C1s have the 1 1/2" stem? I have an early and a late 62, but tires/stems replaced by prior owners. Would like to know.
