We had to find a place that could accomodate us at a price we could afford. San Anotonio, Austin and Houston did not work, but the folks in Frisco were willing to work with us.

FYI - venues is San Antonio or Houston area that are affordable, with 30,000 to 35,000 sq ft indoor convention center, which allow automobiles and with hotel(s) and restaurants within walking distance to host a Texas Chapter Regional event are not readily available. You can be assured the Texas Chapter officers spent a lot of time (3 to 4 weeks), effort and energy searching for such a venue and even used a professional planner's assistance. The Texas Chapter can always use good volunteers to assist with their Regional events. Gary....

Bummer. Can't argue with that. Sorry the other venues didn't work out.

Michael, last year it was held in New Mexico (if I recall correctly) and the years before that---several years running---it was held in Waco which was a good mid-point between the two major Texas metroplexes of Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. Personally I enjoyed the drive to Waco from the D-FW area but Frisco is just fine for two years. I applaud the Texas Chapter for all of their efforts.

Gary, I have never had a car judged and now have #29 of model year 62 that I purchased recently. I have the original title and spoke with the original owner. Other than cleaning up and a few replacement items such as battery,plug wires,radiator hoses,etc., what do I need to do to get registered for Bowtie judging in Frisco?

John, Bowtie judging is done only at the national convention, but qualifying is done at Regionals. Register the car for Flight and tell the team leader that you want to be considered as a Bowtie candidate. After the teams have judged the car, he will sign off for the 2011 convention if he feels that you qualify.

If you haven't already done so, I suggest that you get a copy of the NCRS Judging Reference Manual, which lists requirements and preparation for all judging done by NCRS.

Application hasn't been published in the Driveline as of yet...but that's where you'll find the application for that regional as well as every NCRS judging meet.

Registration forms for the Lone Star Regional should be in the next issue of the Driveline. On line registration will also be available soon. Gary is working on that as we speak. By all means bring your car to the Lone Star. We would love to have you there.

The manual Reba was referring to is the NCRS Judging Reference Manual. This is different than the Technical Manual and Judging Guide for your specific year. The JRM lists the requirement and guidelines for the different classes or types of judging. Look up the guidelines for Bow Tie judging, it will give the specific requirements.
