    1956 Lost Wire?????

    Guys;
    I have an extra wire hooked to a condenser marked DELCO RADIO located by the ignition switch. I would like to know if it goes to the ignition switch and if so, to what terminal it goes. If not the ignition switch, where? I would like to know the diameter of the pulley on the generator.
    All help will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Ken------

    I believe the condenser wire does go to the ignition switch, but I do not know which terminal. Hopefully, someone else can help.

    The pulley OD is as follows

    1 X 4 applications= 3-3/8"

    2 X 4 applications= 3-5/8"

    Both of the above pullies use an ATTACHED fan.

      Guys
      The reason I asked about the pulley is my tach seems too fast (about 250 RPM.s) fast at idle. I had it calibrated on an AC machine and it is still running fast. I am going to check the pulley, but I dont't think it has been changed.

      Thanks for the info.

        From the AIM, FOA 102, Sheet 2, View B, there's a capacitor, PN 726634, that was part of the radio option for RFI reduction behind the dash. It connected to one of the rear terminals on the HL switch. Its purpose was to thwart unintended RF 'broadcast' from the headlight power lines when lights were turned ON/OFF or the dimmer switch was activated...

        Later C1 cars used a similar capacitor (PN 7270568) for the same purpose (headlight power line RF reduction) but connected it to the ammeter terminal when the headlight switch changed eliminating the un-assigned rear electrical terminals. Folks often talk about their 'ammeter' capacitor thinking it has something to do with the car's charging system when it really doesn't...

          Jack;
          That was the answer that I was looking for. I hooked it up on the terminal spoken of and it works OK.
          Thanks.
