I need 8-10 correct rivets for the rebound straps. Someone replaced the straps and put screws in lieu of rivets. Anyone have some extras?

Re: C1 Rebound strap rivets needed
Beware! If you order from one of the usual vendors, call and have them measure the length of the rivets supplied. I got a kit from CC several years ago and just now discovered the rivets are too long to clinch properly. I'm using the original straps and the stacked thickness is just under .50 inch with the plates. The rivets supplied are .69 inch long and need to be .62 to get the proper clinch length. They could be shortened at the expense of destroying the plating, but the plating will be destroyed when they're clinched anyway. Just a hassle.- Top

Re: C1 Rebound strap rivets needed
I found correct rivets at my local Ace hardware in the isle with all the nuts and bolts. They have a box of tubular rivets from 1/4 in to 1 in.
I just finished doing my rebound straps, The kit I got from CC had rivets that were to long, they said that the thickness of the webbing was different over the years depending on the manufacture.

Re: C1 Rebound strap rivets needed
John,
I have purchased two replacement rebound straps in the original GM packaging, and they are thinner that the originals that I am replacing. What is the length of rivet that you purchased from Ace Hardware for the thinner replacement straps?

Re: C1 Rebound strap rivets needed
Mine were also GM replacement straps and much thinner. After several tries with different lengths I ended up using 3/8 length 3/16 diameter.
Hope that helps.
