1961 and 62 Powerglides for Corvettes were different for each model year. The 1961 was a cast iron case; 1962 used an aluminum case. The location of the stamped codes are also different. For the 1961 transmission, the codes were stamped on the rear surface of the governor flange.

For early 1962, the codes were stamped into the right forward bottom of the case, just in front of the oil pan. Later 1962 had the codes stamped into the bottom of the transmission oil pan.

      Joe,

Where on the tranny is the governor flange? I have a '61 PG and can't find the stampings.
