The reproduction jacks are built to the same drawing/standards as the originals were. The difference is there's now a set of Federal performance and safety standards that weren't in place back then. So, reproduction jacks have to meet standards that the original parts didn't.
How do you do that AND make the part faithful to its original appearance? You sell it with useage restriction. It's YOU who read the restriction and interpret it to mean the reproduction is somehow 'shoddy' or 'dysfunctional'...
