    70 vert pillar post weatherstrip

Looking to see if anyone has installed the Lonestar one piece pillar post weatherstrips.

How did the ws fit and feel? How do they compare to Corvette rubber?

By chance does GM still have them available?

    Thanks,

    Bill

Re: 70 vert pillar post weatherstrip

I had an NOS set in my sights and he pulled them off the market.

I think he realized they were too cheap.

I am hoping someone has experience with the Lonestar ws. They seem to have a good reputation.

About 10 years ago there was a manufacturer in Canada that repo'd these. I am thinking that they might have been the supplier to GM. Anywho they were dead on repro's soft, etc. A bit pricey but good. Don't know what happend to them

Dick, It seems that shop is gone, they were doing the C2 strips too, worked great, now the NOS pair are $$$ too.

Well I may be the guinea pig with the Lonestar weatherstrip since the Corvette Rubber fit seems off a bit.

They have a good reputation. I will let everyone know how they fit.

AFAIK there are two major firms reproducing weatherstrip for Vettes, Corvette Rubber and the second name escapes my memory. Only CRC advertises their weatherstrip, the other company operates as a wholesale supplier to other dealers. We sold both when we had the shop open.

Generally much softer than what CRC sells, but also not entirely correct.

I sent Lonestar an email and asked if it was Corvette Rubber. Their reply was that it is their own.

I put the lone Star on and it was not a perfect fit but I was able to make it work.

How long ago did you use the Lone Star WS? Did you contact Lone Star about their fit for your car? If you did, what was their response?

It used to be the other way around, the CRC was softer, but still not as soft as OEM. I sold Metro to the used car dealers as it was a cheaper alternative (back then) to OEM or CRC

                            Hi Bill,
I used CR weatherstrips on my 71.
The only problem I had was that lower portion of the strip, which is shaped like a 'rain gutter', was being very hard on the strip opposite it on the door.
I had to trim the 'gutter' a bit so that it didn't tear the door strip when closing the door.
This very same thing happened to the original strips back in 71.
                            Good Luck!
                            Regards,
                            Alan
