    temperature sending wire

This question may have been asked before but could not find. The judging manual says the temperature sending wire goes on the right hand side and is held by clips attached to the valve cover. However, when I look at the wiring harness diagram in the AIM, page G247, upc 12, A8, it appears to show the wire going up the left hand side. I only say this because it looks like it enters the fire wall between the coil resistor and the wiper motor. The coil resistor is shown next to a triangle with a "4" in it. It appears that the wire goes underneath the resistor, where if it came from the right hand side it would not have to go under the resistor. Also, the wire does not appear to go in front of or close to the coil and distributor. Is the wiring diagram wrong or am I reading it incorrectly. This is for a 67 coupe, 327/350.
    Thanks

AHH-the dangers of depending on the AIM to be accurate! The same AIM illustartion was used for several years, and from the first did not reflect the proper pass side routing for the temp wire.if you have Noland Adams book, take a peek a the lower photo on page 177, also on a '65 on page 288.

I own a 68 so take my advice with a grain of salt. My temp sender on my 68 327/300 is on the LHS (driver side) so I would think 67 is the same. You could install the head on either side however I guess the temp sender could go either side as well. My vote is LHS.

I see I bet and lost on this one. I do concede to the expert(s).

On a 1968 Corvette the temp sender is located in the left side cylinder head. For 1967 and prior Corvettes, the temp sender is located in the intake manifold. So, the routing of the wiring is completely different.

Thanks Joe for the knowledge. I should not have stepped out on this question. Some 67 to 68 configs are the same but here they are not. I learned something tonight!

                  Dennis -

Both the AIM and the Judging Guide are correct. The AIM illustration (UPC 12, sheet A8) is for the base engine (300hp), where the wire follows the left side valve cover, as described in the JG. There is no illustration in the AIM in the L-79 section that shows the wire routing, but it's on the passenger side with L-79, as described in the JG.

ALL illustrations in the UPC 1-UPC 14 section of the AIM (including the wiring diagram in UPC 12) apply ONLY to a "base car" (standard equipment only, no options); that's a 300hp 3-speed with a heater (no radio, no power options, no A/C, no 4-speed or Powerglide). Options are covered individually in the RPO sections in the second half of the manual.
