    Voltage Regulator

I am looking for a voltage regulator for my 58 project. It needs to be dated November or December 57. I tried Mary Jo without much luck. Any referrals would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Pirkle is the man. Sorry I don't have a number right off but I'm sure others will.

        Re: Voltage Regulator

Since NCRS judging policy allows for a 0-6 month time interval for typical dated parts, my advice is to reconsider the NARROW 2-month search window you've established for this part.

Original regulators (used core or used working) are getting harder to find with each passing day. Since your original is 'bye bye' and you know the 'restoration' part you're looking for will NOT be the car's factory original, do you really care if the date code is SMACK on 'typical' versus being close enough to judge without deduction(s)?

Thanks for the replies. Reference the 0-6 month window for dated parts: I was under the understanding that the window was only 2 months...thanks, I appreciate that...I will open up the window a bit.

            Re: Voltage Regulator

Well, the window varies based on specific part. The 6-month rule is the 'general' situation. But, there are a handful of specific set-asides (exceptions) to the general rule that are defined in the NCRS Judging Reference Manual (Standard Deduction section)...

So, to get the 'right' answer, we have to be specific about the part in question. But, your post was aimed at the voltage regulator and it falls under the standard 6-month dating policy.

I'm glad you understood what I was saying about putting the club's judging rules on dated parts to work FOR you! I see a LOT of folks looking for this/that part and asking/demanding that it's date code fall into a NARROW window (sometimes as small as 2-4 weeks).

To me that's a turn-off. Why do I want to beat my head against the wall helping this/that guy find a needle in a haystack when he doesn't need that tight of a date code restriction? So, my comment was aimed at helping you widen your parts search universe.

              Mr Humphrey,

I will take a close look at the judging reference manual...I have found nearly all of the dated parts I need for my project...I suspect I wasted quite a lot of time (and money) trying to keep it all within a 2-month window.
