1962 seat tracks

Do the front of the seat tracks on a '62, bolt directly to the floor, under the carpet? If so, how far into the carpet should I cut, if I need to create flaps to cover the tracks?

Yes they bolt to the floor. One bolt on each side rail in the front. Trim as needed.

Yes they go into a nut plate which is rivited to the underside of the floor.
I believe the outside screw (near the door) goes through the carpet ( bracket on top of carpet) and the inside screw is covered by the carpet .
But I might be wrong, hopefully someone else will comment.

Per the judging guide and my experience, the seat rails should bolt directly to the floor. They should not be on top of the carpet.

I appreciate all your responses. I bolted the tracks directly to the floor, and the carpets could be lifted enough without cutting, to install the bolts.
