    Re: Fit and finish guide?

On the disassembly comment, our 15-year chapter member took a rather clever approach. He bought a SECOND AIM book to use as a disassembly/assembly guide.

When each fastener was removed, he hand annotated the AIM with the headmark on the original fastener, numbered the designator, and put the fastener(s) in a plastic baggie with the numbered designation...

Kenn, Saw the Laguna Grey color and stopped reading. If you plan to do that color on your restoration, contact member Dallas Keller. He just spent over 2 years getting the color right on his '70, and it looks great. He can tell you what he used, and give you the formulas. Dallas has the color standard so he was meticulous on the color and flake match.

        Kenn,

I have a Laguna Gray '70 as well, and finished the paint a little while back. I matched my color to a Bowtie car in Indiana. I was going through this at the same time Dallas was and I recall that we had compared notes. I don't know if my formula matches what Dallas ended up with, but I'd be happy to share my formula with you as well. I used a PPG lacquer.

wow! all excellent advice! I wish I had asked this for myself 10 years ago!!!

I'd like to add one thing Kenn and that is to keep the dollars to points ratio in perspective. You can literaly "waste" thousands of dollars for only a few points or spent a few hundred dollars and get 10 times that many points back!

At any rate you'll be in good hands here.
