Reuse/swap lifters?

I've got a set of hyd. lifters that have less than 500 miles on them. Any reason not to use them in the rebuild of another motor?

Mark, you did not say if you are using the same camshaft with the lifters that have 500 miles on them. It's always good to start with new lifters with a new camshaft.

500 miles isn't very many unless they were put on 1/4 mile at a time..

when i would dyno test different flat tappet cams as long as the bottom of the lifter was still convex and smooth i never changed the lifters.

Hello Mark;
We often reuse(d) extremely low hour lifters in our own engines, but not for customers engines.
As long as the lifter lobe remained as designed, slightly higher across the lifter surface to spin the lifter, and the lifter bottom was as previously mentioned (not concave) we would use them again.
