Looking to get carpet for my 71 convertible. As original as possible.
    Trim 412
    Paint 905
Any suggestions on who supplies the most original looking carpet?

      Re: interior

I got new standard black carpet for my '71 mille miglia red coupe from Romeo Engineering, Inc. (they advertise in the NCRS Driveline). I was impressed with the quality and appearance of the carpet as compared to original (even the back side looked very similar). I had to wait a few months to get it but I have the sense that patience is a virtue with Romeo. Black is probably an easy match - I don't know about the blue.

BTW, I've never seen a Nevada Silver '71 with blue interior - I bet that looks sharp! It seems that black interior was the name of the game back in those days. Witness my car, for instance. I've seen some red '71s with saddle interior and I think that looks much nicer than the black, but yet most of the ones I've seen are black.

      Good luck in your search!

        Re: interior

        Hi Mario,
I first replaced the carpet in my 71 coupe with carpet from Romeo.
As time went by I began to see that in some ways it was different than my original. The loops (it's the std 80/20 carpet) varied in length and were quite 'fuzzy' compared to my original carpet.
I called other suppliers and asked for samples, reviewed them, and decided to buy the Al Knock carpet. I picked up the set at Carlisle. When I got it home I saw that the heel and dimmer pads were nothing like my original pads except in size and shape. I then took the original heel and dimmer pad off the original carpet and sewed it on the Knock carpet. I had to do it by hand since no one I talked to about doing it would assure me that they wouldn't make at least SOME new needle holes in the original pads, which I didn't want. Doing it by hand was a time consuming process.
Now the carpet is in and I'm pleased.
Here's a picture of the original pad and the Knock pad. The Romeo pad is closer to the original but still easy to spot. There's the IMCO football logo question, too.
If I can offer some more info please let me know.
        Regards,
        Alan

Thank you all for your responses. I'll check out Romeo and Al knoch and see what they have. Randall, the silver picks up the blue. It caught my eye right away.
