    Brake Caliper Machined Area's

I just received my brake calipers back from rebuilding and they have been painted black over the machined area's. What is the best way to remove paint and make the area's look like fresh machining?

Also all the bolts that hold the brake calipers on to the bracket have six radial lines but go to a circle in the center. Is this a correct head marking? I have read that they should be six radial lines from each corner with a small rectangle between two of the lines. Are both correct or just the second one.
    Thanks
    Sheldon

Clean the paint off machined areas with an angle air grinder with a 2" scotch brite wheel works well.

      Sheldon,
You can try accetone, laquer thinner, or equivelent. I think I kept the paint on mine and just made sure the O-ring surfaces were clean.

I taped mine off and sprayed those areas with a paint that "looks like" machined metal. I hate rust more than I hate losing 1 point for paint. Else you'll have to hit the area with matte clear to keep those areas from rusting.
