Thanks, 'll try, but have not had much success so far with these special orders. Seems when you go to order them, they can't get them, but I'll try.- Top

As far as I know, Pirelli has discontinued the tire in this size. So, you would need to find a warehouse or retailer that has it in stock. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

There was a recent thread on the subject that you should look at. I started the thread and I think someone confirmed with Pirelli that this tire is out of production, but if you are diligent, you might be able to find some remaining stock.

Re: Pirelli P4000 215/70ZR-15 tire?
I think your best bet would be to contact national chains that sell Pirelli tires like America's Tire, Discount Tire Direct, The Tire Rack, etc. These operations have national inventories on their computer system. So, if there is an inventory of the tire anywhere in their system, they can find them and have them shipped. They might find 1 tire at one location, 2 at another, and so on. This way, they can "piece together" a set.
I did this once for a particular model and size of a Goodrich Tire I wanted that had been discontinued. Unfortunately, they were only able to find 3 at all of their locations in the country. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Firestone makes this same size, Indy 500 Firehawk. Great ride and handling and good looking tires. Got those when the BFG radial TA's and Pirelli's were not available and I was NOT going to put a china or korean tire on a Vette!- Top

Re: Pirelli P4000 215/70ZR-15 tire?
First of all, there's no real comparison between the Firestone Firehawk 500 and the Pirelli P4000. The former is an S rated tire and the latter is a V rated tire. Finding an S rated tire in 215-70-15 is no problem, at all. Finding a V rated tire in this size is a whole 'nuther matter. I believe the Pirelli P4000 was the last one left.
Second, the Firestone Firehawk 500 in 215-70-15 size is not necessarily a USA-manufactured tire. Some are made in the USA and some in Mexico. You find out which when you buy them.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Pirelli P4000 215/70ZR-15 tire?
Joe,
If the intended application is a C2, they are more than adequate and a far stretch better that the Coker eggs also made south of the Rio Grande,
in case you haven't seen yet, there is no border
Yes, in that size, early this year, I could not find a V rated tire, and the first and second choices were not available either. A little know fact is that Michelin now owns BFG, Uniroyal, etc. I'm no top fan of Firestone, look at their history from the 70's to now, about once a decade they pump some real junk.
And as Duke has told us recently, most of these C2's cannot handle sustained speeds over 100mph anyway, and then...where are you going to do that these days???- Top

Re: Pirelli P4000 215/70ZR-15 tire?
The 215/70ZR-15 97W Pirelli P4000 Super Touring is "W" rated, which is a limit of 168 MPH. Tires with a Z rating in the size designation can be modified by a speed symbol in the load index. In this case is it W.
The other modifier is Y, which indicates a limit of 186 MPH. If the Y is in parentheses - (Y) - there is no limit.
Look at the tires on current Corvettes.
The last remaining very high speed rated (V or above) 215/70R-15 is the Avon CR6ZZ that I have mentioned in several recent tire threads.

Re: Pirelli P4000 215/70ZR-15 tire?
John,
I think that the Ferrari crowd is the only reason they are still around. I am not familiar with any other old marque where people are paying for XWX's. If we think it is hard to find a V-rated tire in 15 inch sizes, try the 14 inch size that came on the first 308's. Those wheels would become useless if they ever stop making the XWX's.

I believe the XWX tires available today are Coker reproductions. I don't even know if they are made by Michelin or if they're manufactured by some other firm under license to Michelin.
Regardless, while the XWX might be a great tire for old Ferraris, to me the tread pattern is just not right for a Corvette. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
