    67 Black/Red 427/400 Conv...How Many?

Curious....I once owned a 67 427/390 black/red air cond coupe and I have yet to see another one. Last year I helped a friend buy a real (validated by Grenning) 67 black/red 427/400 conv. Don't think I have ever seen another of those either. This one was in private hands for 28 years and not shown around let alone NCRS shown. It will be though after some restoration work. Anyone out there know of another 67 conv black/red 427/400 regardless of other options? Thanks...

I have inspected 4 in the last two years, but......none were real. Two probably came into this world as Small Blocks and at least one was air added. Next to 435's they are probably the most counterfeited '67's. BTW, none came into this world as black cars either

I started keeping a log on "Real" 67' black Corvettes last year. So far I only have twelve!

It seems to me that bogus documentation has become reproduced so well, tank stickers, trim tags, window stickers, initial sales documents, etc. that, absent GM of Canada certification, how can you determine if it is "real" or not?

Good point. That is why I have only documented the ones where I have observed the paint code.

The latest variant of the trim tag is pretty hard to detect. 'course it should be for what they charge for it. There have been a few of them seen on the judging field in the last year or so. Probably will not be back to the judging field again either!

I know of one that was just sold this past year. Here's the story: A friend bought the car sometime in the '70s with the intention of one day restoring it; it had been in a minor front end collision. He needed the money and offered to sell it to me in 1980, but I didn't have the funds because I had just bought my present '66 L79 convertible. I turned another friend onto the car, he bought it and proceeded to take the car apart. Unfortunately he passed away not long afterwards and his widow eventually finished the car, although not to any NCRS type standards. She sold the car last year.

The reason I'm pretty sure the car was original is because she was approached at a local show one day by the second owner, who recognized the car. He claimed he bought the car from the original owner sometime in the '60s. As far as options, as I recall the car had red leather interior, power windows and bolt-ons, not sure what else.
