Brad, just try it and see if it lines up, you'll need the pulleys for a start!

Dan, I may try the U bracket only this morning just to see what the late pulley alignment is, what is a point hit in judging for wrong pulleys or do they look at this?, Thanks again, Brad.

Brad, totally different pulleys for E58, all three of yours will be wrong plus the hood prop on the wrong side. Paragon has nice pictures of both styles so you can see the very obvious differences. Happy hunting!

              Re: Early 58 hood support

Allready have the RH hood support, (just purchased) thats where all this started with hood support hitting Gen when lowering hood, will order new pulleys and ask if my U bracket will work ( redrill) and if my heat shield that is on the plate (which will eliminate) will work. Thanks again, Brad. Will post in 2 weeks for conclusion.

Dan, Does the Right Hand fender reinforcement effect this RH situation, I notice my Generator now is about 1/8 from the reinforcement, would hate to start this and find out that the early 58 inner fender areas had more room to start with giving more space, also does the Gen pulley for this set up have the 1/4 space between the fan and pulley or is are they tight together, mine is tight together? Thanks Again, Brad.

Brad, 1/4 inch space for gen pulley. What fender reinforcement are you referring too? You got a big block in that 58? The gen should sit with the top adjusting bolt at about 12 o'clock. You have the correct top brace? Dan

                    Re: Early 58 hood support

Dan 283, the inner fender, the volt reg. fastens to and returns toward the motor then back to the front of car, bottom of Gen is 1/8 from touching this corner, I guess when correct pulleys are put in then Gen. is back further and would clear this corner, is it worth redrilling my U bracket for alignment or just get the 57 one to fasten gen to manifold? Thanks again, Brad.

Brad, you need to do some home work. I Assume you have every book about 58s you can get, AIM, Nolands Book, etc. also find an early 58 near you and measure/photograph every inch. It's your car and you need to attack it in an aggressive fashion, it's a passion and you must learn everything about it, we can't possibly go over every detail with you until you exhaust your own research. These cars are a labor of love, learn all you can about it!
