Cahsing TI Problem- Found the problem

I have asked for help regarding an intermittant miss after changing out the TI system with everything new. (L71) We replaced the box, coil, checked grounds, voltages, etc. We finally even wired an MSD in and had the same issues.

I checked the pickup coil and it read fine on several occasions. The only thing left not changed was the distributor. I was finally able to borrow another one but when I removed mine, I discovered the star wheel was intermittantly hitting on the magnetic pickup. To a point that a couple points look to be worn. It has an NOS shaft and bearings in it.

Has anyone else encountered this and if I solve the points touching, is the wear going to affect how it runs?

get some thin brass shim stock and put it around the star wheel and use that to center the magnet coil pole piece. install the magnet pole piece with the points facing each other and tighten the screws.
