Please help me find these for my '79...anybody?

My car is suffering from age. I want to keep it as original as possible and I've been able to do so, to date, as it is now a 7815 mile survivor. This summer age set in and I'm asking for help from all of you C3 purists. 4 items on my agenda:

1.) Was an existing/ongoing issue. I'm seeking a '79L-81 2nd design power antenna (NOS, or complete and functional out of another car), compatible with the UP6 Am-Fm Radio w/CB. Car presently has ugly incorrect GM AC Delco post production replacement. Anybody out there who can point me towards a correct one as described would be awesome.

2.) I need a quality clock rebuilder I can send my clock to who won't change it's motion by converting it to quartz. Know one?

3.) My ignition/plug wires are starting to fail as the vehicle gets hot. Does anybody know where I can get some correct-repro, date coded (if applicable for '79 L-48s), ignition wires good enough to satisfy some NCRS or bloomington judges????

4.) And finally, my cruise control transducer just quit last weekend. Does anyone know of someone who can rebuild my original, perhaps making it better than original without making it look like it's ever been touched. I'm in So. FL. but I'd consider sending it out to someone reputable if I can get some good referrals??? Anybody?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have you looked in the Driveline for the parts and repairs? There's plenty of outfits that will repair (not convert) your clock.

I've always has good luck advertising for parts I need.

Michael...the last time I needed a C3 clock repaired...I removed it myself and sent it out to Corvette Clocks by Roger. I believe out of Tenneesee. www.corvetteclocks.com

They do both repairs in either standard or quartz movement. They called before starting on my clock to make sure which movement I wanted.

The clock still works fine and they explained to me the pros and cons of both movements and the price was fair. I don't remember the turn around time was fast, but I do/did these type of projects during the winter months.

The summer months in Colorado are just too short to have your Corvette down at all. Of course that makes for long winter months.

You can get a new clock for about the same price as a rebuilt one, and made from the original tooling. I've used these people before and the clocks work well. Or, they'll rebuild yours.

...I thought Electric Limited was now producing the correct date coded '75-'82 HEI style plug wires with the nipple that goes into the distibutor top ring.

                    1. When I was restoring my 79 L-48 I used LectricLimited for a new date correct set of wires. ( PITA to install. 2. But I know from my past experience that there isn't any correct antenna available. I could never find one anywhere. 3. The clock is an easy fix if you take it out and buy a quartz conversion kit and I did it myself. As for anything else, the 'Driveline' is a bible of folks who can do most anything you need to be restored/fixed or adjusted. good luck !

Thanks Jim, I guess that LectricLimited is the place for the wires, the antenna...I've been looking for since this past spring. Yes it's frustrating. And the clock is good news, I'm just not looking forward to tearing into the center dash. Thanks again. MM (51829)

The LL wire conductors are VERY fragile - handle them carefully, and be sure to ohm-check them before AND after installing them (5,000 ohms per foot).

Thank you for the info. Do you know of a better product from a different supplier? Or do you agree that the LL's are the one's to get, just give them lots of TLC?

                            Mike -

For a driven car, I prefer function/reliability to points; K&B Special Products (www.kandbcorvetteproducts.com) makes outstanding Corvette plug wire sets that are far more durable than the repro wires - they just aren't dated.

                              John-

Thanks again. For now, I'm trying to keep it a historical timepiece that goes out on a Sunday drive if the weather is nice. I'm also hoping to go have it Certified in shows next year, so I'm playing the role of a purist right now...I know that due to inevitability, mileage, and age, etc. It will someday become a driver and I'll be right there with you in the 'function/reliability' category, but for now I'm looking for all the NOS, OEM, original parts rebuilders I can find. Hope to see you on the circuit...thanks again.
