C3 Exhaust 2.25" vs 2.5"

Need some advise. I have a 69 with a 350/350 crate motor with Hooker competition headers. I need to select an exhaust system that will connect to my headers. Hooker makes a 2.25" system which should fit nicely with their Aero chamber mufflers. I've also read good things about the Pypes 2.5" stainless system with the x-pipe and Street Pro muffler. My ultimate goal is performance. I understand the L88 only used a 2" system with no x-pipe. Any one have any experience with ether of these systems or can recommend one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
