    1979 Build Sheet

    I have found the "build sheet" glued on the top of my gas tank. I was extremely pleased to find it. The only problem is, it is very worn and difficult to read in some places. I have a 1979 L82 4 speed. I was wondering if there is a readable build sheet from another car or a blank build sheet to refer to. I don't know where to start. I hope somebody has some advice for me!!

    Try these folks: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...x.php?cmd=area

    You may be able to obtain a copy of the original dealer invoice for your 79.

      I have a fuzzy recollection that build sheet information for Corvettes built at Bowling Green vs. St. Louis ARE intact and the information is available via the National Corvette Museum. Others may comment/critique here...

        Almost. The museum has build sheets for some (not all) of the Bowling Green built cars. For St. Louis cars, the Allied-Vaughn folks might have copies of original dealer invoices for a lot of the 77-81 St. Louis cars. I was able to get a copy of the invoice for my 80. Allied Vaughn has nothing on the BG cars and the museum (last I heard) had no records for the St. Louis cars.

        As we all know, 76 and earlier owners are left to their own devices.

          Try the (NCM) build sheet copy service and see if they have your copy. For my 78 they did not have it because it was an international order. The invoice service won't help much beyond the RPOs because it does not have the broadcast codes. Otherwise, if you have removed it and can scan, I can work with you to interpret the codes. Send a copy to my email address

              Re: 1979 Build Sheet

              Paul..I had to dig a little in my old records of my '79...

              When I first purchased my '79 back in 2002 I received a free Restoration Package from GM/Chevrolet. It had options that were original to my car.

              Call the Assistance hotline at (800) 222-1020 or 810-696-4800. You will need to supply the VIN of the car.

              The phone call only takes 4-5 minutes of your time and is absolutely free. The Restoration Package sent out to you within 2-3 business days of your request and includes the following:

              * Chevrolet Past Model Parts
              * Chevy Restoration Corvette Manual

              These are unbound photo copies of the manual. The Restoration Manual is a speccifications to the year that you request. It includes several magazines articles, followed by an order guide for the General Information and a Vehicle Overview. MVMA specifcaitions for your requested model and Model Parts information is a directory of suppliers that carry GM Restoration parts, shops suppliers and publicatioins. The package comes from MSX International in Auburn Hills, MI.

              Like I said earlier, I did this back in 2002 so I don't know if contacts and materials are still available, but it is worth a few minutes of your time.

              Good luck.
