    Odd Engine Pad Stamp

I am looking around for a '67 L36, and found this very odd stamp on one for sale. One for your collection of stamps, Whatdayathink?

I think his camera was drunk. Can't really comment with a blurry pic like that.

It is a bit blury, but it's stamped like a small block. The vin and assy date should be reversed. Reminds me of the Fonawanda stamp.

You're right. I need to let my monitor sober up.

No way the gang stamp at the car plant could have fit close enough to the head with the plug in place to get the VIN derivative located where that stamp is located

I saw another 67 "435" stamped just like that about a year ago. Maybe the same person is responsible...

Looks kinda like a "stamp your own engine deal" that they guessed which end the assembly date goes on when it's a big block...

At least the old Fonawanda stamp was on the correct end of the pad for a big block

Some of these things are just amazing. This one I posted has a 6 figure asking price, claiming "matching numbers" of course. You do wonder how they can be so bold. Yes, I'm still looking.

Most engine rebuilders offer restamping not only for Corvettes but all engines. Remember camaro Z-28'S& Chevelles LS-6's have matching #'S now. It is even listed on there invoice fourms. I had heads redune two places & both had a box for restamps. Cost on both was 300.00. It must be in the rebuilders shop rate book. LOL
