Guys, I am still working on the restoration of my '56. I am now looking at doing something radiator wise. The local shop cannot get a correct core and is not that familiar with radiators made back in the 1950's so re-coring could be an issue even with the correct core. I called DeWitts and got prices from them to recore my old radiator (they send it out) or buy one of their aluminum replacements. I have seen one of their aluminum radiators and thought it looked really good. The core is made differently from the originals and when painted would probably hardly show. Their aluminum radiator is also supposed to cool far superior to the original copper ones. What I am wondering is how many deduct points am I looking at by using their aluminum radiator verses having mine re-cored? The price of their aluminum radiator is about half of what it will cost to re-core my old one. Thanks in advance! Brooks Glover (2141)

Re: Judging Points Deduct on C-1 DeWitt Radiator
If it's painted black and you use your original tag on the top tank, you might get a 2-point deduction for Configuration if they spot the core difference. Another benefit of using the DeWitts radiator is that you'll never have to look at the temperature gauge again.- Top

Re: Judging Points Deduct on C-1 DeWitt Radiator
Thanks John, I will probably give them a call in the morning and get one of their aluminum radiators (painted black) on order. I have yet to attend a judging event and did not know how much of a deduct I would be looking at. Two points is not enough to get in a tizzy about. Thanks again! Brooks Glover (2141)- Top
